Parts of Milling Machine and Their Functions

Milling Machine For Sale

A milling machine is needed to strip metals from the workpiece with a rotating cutter titled milling cutter. It's being used to machine the flat, rough, and irregularly shaped. This gets completed by feeding the workpiece to a spinning milling cutter, and the milling machine price is also very reasonable.

Main Parts of the Milling Machine

The main components made by the milling machine manufacturing companies are:

Column & Base Columns, including foundation, is the main casting which supports all the other components of the milling machine.

  • The column includes an oil reservoir and a pump that greases the spindle.
  • The column relies on the center, and the base includes a coolant reservoir and a pump used during machine operation that needs coolant.

Knee:

It's a casting that protects the table and the saddle. Both gearing systems get sealed within the leg.

  • It's connected to the column by a double-sided means.
  • A vertical positioning screw (elevating screw) protects and adjusts the leg.
  • The lifting screw is used to shift the knee up and down by raising or dropping the lever by either hand or by a power supply.

Saddle and Swivel Table:

The saddle is on the knee and protects the table. It moves on the horizontal dovetail of the knee, and the dovetail is parallel to the direction of the spindle (in horizontal milling m / c).

The swivel table (only in universal machines) gets connected to the bench, which can be turned horizontally in any direction.

Power Feed Mechanism:

It is the knee that comprises the power feed system. It gets used for monitoring linear (left and right), transverse (in or out), and vertical (up or down) feeds.

  • To achieve the optimal feed rate on the unit, the feed selection lever is located, as shown on the feed selection plate.
  • On certain universal knee and column milling machines, the feed is received by changing the speed selection handles until the required feed rate gets displayed on the feed dial.
  • Most milling machines for sale have a quick crossover lever that can get used when a slight increase in the pace of longitudinal, transverse, or vertical feed is needed. For example, the lever will get used while the operator is placing or aligning the job.
